Spark voice engineers will be updating the routing of calls to our network at this time so that it transits a different carrier network. The expectation is that this will be a much more robust route than the existing route has proven to be in the last few weeks and should put an end to the Spark calling issues that have been recently experienced. Engineers will test the new route in 3 stages to confirm everything is working without issue.
The majority of our local inbound traffic is still routing via an alternate secondary path so will be unaffected by this routing change by Spark. However, if the change is successful we will aim to move the majority of our traffic back to this primary transit path.
We do not expect any interruption in service for customers.
